Melinda Anita | MD & DC Brand Sessions
This shoot is dear to me for several reasons! Melinda was one of my first students at Brand Photography Academy, and she’s been a huge source of encouragement over the past few years! Which, given that she has an extensive background in higher education, is emboldened even more. I had the chance to get to know her IRL when she helped out on a few shoots (she was there for Mary Marantz!), and she That the kind of person you want by your side on a fast-paced day. Her calm personality is unflappable, and I can 100% see why her clients find it so relaxing to be in front of her camera.
So as a CPA student + on-set assistant, this friend has seen the ins and outs of my system. When I saw the question land in our inbox, I was *overjoyed!*
Melinda is a Hudson Valley based wedding & brand photographer, and I LOVED watching her work evolve over the past two years as we’ve gotten to know each other! Melinda traveled to where I was stomping for her shoot and we split our time between the two places. First, a residential location in Maryland for the “brand photographer” and “food photographer” storylines. Second, we drove into town to visit one of DC’s most iconic museums for the “wedding photographer” storyline. We wanted to showcase Melinda’s genuine warmth and personality, which helps her clients feel VERY comfortable with her on set & at weddings, balanced with the high end nature her brand brings.
For the day of her shoot Melinda arranged for the models to be on hand to illustrate her offerings, branding and wedding, and I’m so glad we made the call. The final product feels more intuitive, and seeing it in elements posing & directing the client while I shot “BTS” was a joy.
