Public Art Issues in Street Photography – John Lewell Photography

As a street photographer, I’ve kept my eye out for all the quirky statues that keep popping up in the places you least expect them to be. I really like one or two of these, like Oscar Wilde’s warning (above). Yet so many public statues are appallingly grisly.

What do people think when they decide to spoil a pretty street corner with a bunch of fried eggs (Santiago, Chile), a crumpled plastic cup (Bristol, UK), or a pile of naughty pigs (Adelaide, Australia)?

I generally avoid photographing statues and sculptures — just as I avoid street buskers, beggars, homeless people,

Ashlee & Aaron | Montville Chapel Wedding

I’ve had the privilege of filming many Montville Chapel weddings, but this Ashlee & Aaron wedding is by far one of the warmest, most loving, and intimate weddings I’ve had the pleasure of working on. Ashlee & Aaron put complete trust in me to create for them a photographic experience and memorable album that is not only world class but also reminiscent of their vision of marriage. We had an amazing time experimenting with new locations in this amazing place and had a lot of fun.

Thank you Ashlee & Aaron for putting your faith in me and for being

I still owe you the pictures from the second night of “Viggiona by Night”. Different bands, different street food. I wanted to shoot with a different lens, and put my night vision lens to the test, the TTA Artisan 50mm .95 prime “Nifty Fifty”. I mounted an M-Mount lens via an adapter to an L-Mount Leica SL2-S. I was really curious how the manual focus 0.95 Chinese made lens would perform vs the Leica Vario Elmarit zoom I used the night before under the same conditions. Check out the results below…

Featuring the Moon and Earth in the images, the Orion spacecraft took the images when it reached a maximum mission distance of 268,563 miles from Earth, the longest any craft intended to carry humans into space and back has ever been.

But you don’t have to take our word for it. You can view the images on the NASA website at this link.

Meredith Ryncarz | Shoot the Savannah Brand

Shooting for other photographers is always *a little* stressful, especially when they’re just as talented as Meredith! He and I have been running the same circles for years and finally had the opportunity to meet in person at the Creative At Heart conference, and he is even more fun in person than online! Meredith is one of those rare photographers who is just as talented on the business side of things as she is in the art department.

Meredith is a timeless and stunning wedding photographer, and one of her superpowers is to “bring serenity.” She’s balanced and elegant, so

Walk Around the Roman Walls – John Lewell Photography

What did the Romans do for us? Well, here in my hometown of Colchester (Essex, UK) they built quite a nice wall, much of it still standing after almost 2,000 years.

Not being able to venture very far during the recent (and seemingly endless) pandemic, I began to wonder if the wall could serve as a backdrop for some street photos.

I took everything with the new Fuji X100V, intermittently for a few days.
