Shooting for other photographers is always *a little* stressful, especially when they’re just as talented as Meredith! He and I have been running the same circles for years and finally had the opportunity to meet in person at the Creative At Heart conference, and he is even more fun in person than online! Meredith is one of those rare photographers who is just as talented on the business side of things as she is in the art department.
Meredith is a timeless and stunning wedding photographer, and one of her superpowers is to “bring serenity.” She’s balanced and elegant, so for her brand shoot, we wanted to keep things high and subtle, without losing the warmth and poise that she and husband Jason brought on their wedding day.
We wanted a location shoot that felt clean and classy without getting into “stuffy” territory, and with my favorite stylist Katherine on board for wardrobe, Meredith’s wardrobe helped bring a level of connectedness to the set! We focused on two main storylines for the day – heirloom wedding photographer, and looked at their life as a family to show the human side of their business.
Meredith thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to shoot for you! It was really fun, and I had the best time with your family. You are a treasure, my friend, and I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
For curious photographers: the biggest challenge we faced that day was the light in the kitchen. It was an overcast day, and the kitchen/living room area got *much* darker than we expected. We had two choices – increasing the ISO, or popping out my Profoto B2 to increase the limited natural light available.
I finally got my studio lights out for some shots in the kitchen, and I *love* the results! I can’t wait to break down how I light some of these photos for our students inside Brand Photography Academy! Shooting with OCF may seem intimidating, but it makes a big difference!
