Micro Four Thirds cameras get no respect, and I think that’s prejudice not physics

Olympus OM-1

Micro Four Thirds sensors, as used in the Olympus/OM System and Panasonic Lumix G cameras, are about half the size, in area, of APS-C which is, in turn, half the size of full frame. The Micro four Thirds sensor therefore has about one-quarter the area of a full frame sensor. This brings a clear theoretical shortfall in noise control, dynamic range and resolution. It’s all down to the smaller sensor area, smaller photosites and generally lower resolution.

But the mistake made by so many is to assume that this immediately plunges the whole MFT setup below some threshold

By Johnny Martyr

Yesterday in one of the film photography groups on Facebook, someone asked, as they often do, about learning to use the film camera they just bought. The first response boils down to “watch YouTube” without any special links.

I think this is frank nonsense.

Maybe it’s because I’m old but I actually took photography classes in college and learned by working with an instructor in real life. YouTube is fun and useful, but I think it’s better used as a supplement. And if you’re going to recommend YouTube College, at least provide the link you recommended, don’t

As Reuters explained, this will involve hearing before a panel of 11 judges chosen at random rather than an entire court of appeals. The original 3-panel judge sided Instagram against the photographers and defended the so-called “server test” which stemmed from the case against Amazon brought by Perfect 10, Inc. and the standard basically

Oh, Bards…

Photo of the Day – Oh, Bard…

I love playing around with new AI stuff. Some of it is good (Midjourney/ChatGPT) some of it is bad and sometimes it’s downright hit and miss. Regardless of the outcome, it’s always fun to experiment. Recently Google added image upload to Bard, their AI chat, and you can have it do things like describe the content of the image.

Now knowing the Bard has a tendency, even with normal chat, to find facts out of the ordinary, I’m curious to see how it goes with some of my drawings. To be fair, it
