In November 2021, I was giving a talk at my mastermind retreat about the category of visual business owners who should tell their brand story, and right after that Chess & Nickie from The Funnel Sisters came up and told me “we need that. they have mentioned something had disappeared from their website, and realized this was it- a visual library of brands that showed much more than pretty portraits of business owners smiling in front of their laptops. They need visuals to help bridge the gap between them Iintention for their brands and audiences perception.
These two are copywriters and strategists, and they are VERY good at what they do. Their client results speak for themselves, and my prep calls with the two excited me- listening to Nickie’s passion and confidence makes me sit up and wonder why I’m not talking about myself in the same passion. They’re not afraid to acknowledge their success, to underscore the value they bring to the table for their clients. Lines you will find on their website: “You have K, Q, J and 10- we are your Ace.”

Chess & Nickie are from Oklahoma & Arizona respectively, and they both flew to DC to shoot so we could take advantage of the multiple locations the DMV had to offer. Even though it’s raining will. no. stop that day, we managed to capture a wide variety of content during a full day of shooting! We started with some outdoor portraits, moved to a studio, and ended the day at a residential location, and these two ruined it from start to finish.

**To my fellow photographers reading this- pay attention to the lighting during this shoot! We had ample natural light outside + in the studio but when we got to the residential site it was DARK inside. I ended up blending ambient light with a bit of studio lighting to avoid uneven shadows all over my face, and I’m VERY happy with the result!
