Sleeping in an Ice Cave – Stuck in Customs

Photo of the Day – Sleeping in an Ice Cave

On my first day in Antarctica, I was sent for survival training. This is a good idea because I’m not a survivalist and I can do it with a little training. We spent most of the day building an ice block galley to block the wind so we could cook food, pitch some blizzard-proof tents, and dig an ice cave to sleep in. most of these caves, but I definitely went down inside to enjoy the benefits. By the way, in winter it’s never dark there, so this is how it looks like around midnight.
