“All Hallow’s Eve” is the evening before the religious feast of All Saints (aka All Hallow’s Day), remembering the dead, saints and martyrs of Christianity. Many Halloween traditions are believed to have originated in ancient Celtic harvest festivals and pagan traditions. It was primarily Irish immigrants to the US who brought with them many secular traditions such as trick-or-treating, Halloween costume parties, carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns and lighting bonfires. Kids are sure to have fun with these, and so do street photographers. And all is not lost, because sometimes it seems that the good wizard tries to kill the monster.
Legal aid lawyers in Quebec hold a half-day strike
A group of legal aid lawyers went on strike for half a day on Monday, while the renewal of their collective agreement remains unfinished with the Quebec government.
The group is made up of lawyers who joined the CSN-affiliated Fédération des professionnels, which went on strike the morning after they left earlier this month.
In mid-June, attorneys in the region of Montreal-Laval, Bas Saint-Laurent-Gaspésie and Laurentides-Lanaudière also voted in favor of mandating another strike, this time for seven days, to be implemented at the appropriate time.
Another group, the 210-member Fédération des avocates et avocats de l’aide yuridique, an independent
Floating, Zombie Ballerinas..I Mean, Of Course… « Joe McNally Photography
A number of people who follow our recent Instagram posts have asked about the “how to” explanation of the lighting and staging of the banner photo at the top. Others just ask, what happened? Still others may think of asking exactly what kind of pharmaceutical regimen I’m on.

What to do that might be different? Unique?

The birth of Teddy | adoption story
Background
If there’s any indication of how crazy things are getting here, Teddy is now six months old, and I haven’t introduced him on the blog yet!
If you follow our story on social media, we were originally set up with another mother-to-be back in March. You can read the full story in this blog post– long and short, they all failed, and we are devastated. We know it’s always a possibility – with any kind of pre-natal match, there’s always a parent-to-be who might change their mind.
And let me be clear- us support it. I would never want

Edmonton lawyer’s conduct led to collapse of Northlands case, court documents show
A multi-million dollar wrongful dismissal and defamation trial collapsed because of the conduct of the lawyer representing former Edmonton Northlands cashiers, court documents show.
This week, CBC News opposed an application to permanently seal affidavits plaintiffs had filed about Glenda Pidde, who represented 19 fired Northlands parking services cashiers for more than six years, and a publication ban on a mistrial application.
“The public has a right to know about the reasons for the outcome of the case,” said CBC lawyer Tess Layton during oral arguments Wednesday.
Six sworn affidavits were prepared. The plaintiffs’ new lawyer asked Court of Queen’s
