I’ve been hiding these photos for months, and with the launch on Natalie’s new website this week, I can finally share them! And BOY was it worth the wait. Natalie was my first brand photography client in 2016 when she was working on her first big brand change (you can see her first shoot here!), and things have changed in a big way for her business over the last nearly seven years.
He has always been a champion for those around him, and to see that message sharpened and grow louder and bolder has been a JOY. And now, seeing a visual brand that reflects that bold message? This is a branding dream come true. The amount of thought and intention that goes into ensuring visuals that reflect the vision pays off in spades.
Natalie and I ended up shooting together twice – once in October, and again in December to complete her photo collection with a specific set of visuals requested by her designer, Erin of The Happy Brand. And I’m SO impressed with how well the two sets of photos coexist on Nat’s site! I’ve separated the shot so you can see the contrast between the two #2 shots pointing downwards ;).
Shooting to completely rebrand is an endeavor- you’re not “adding to” a client’s existing photo library, you’re actually shooting with the aim of replace most, if not all, they have used in the past. That means you have to work purposefully to create as much as possible variation and volume maybe, especially when your client is someone like Natalie- a content machine, who is going to make their photos work anywhere.
That is my favorite type of challenge :).
Natalie, I couldn’t be more proud of you- what a genius You, from the waves you make, from your unrepentant power. It’s an honor to be your friend, and an absolute honor to be your brand photographer!

And then we shoot again!
Here are some favorites from our second shoot, which was in December where we got direct input & direction from Nat designer Erin! Erin was actually on set with us for this shoot which was really fun.
The following photos were all taken in-studio, and you’ll notice these were all meant to be more attention-grabbing images that communicate the overall brand vibe, not “story-telling” or “background” types of photos. Erin had a very specific vision of where she wanted to use this, and I loved the clarity with which we were able to approach this second, shorter shot.
