Oooh this is fun! I can tell from our first shoot together that Michele pays attention to detail (she puts all of her props in color coded order in her garage- dream client)and he prepared me before this second shoot so there’s a lot more for me to play with this go-round.
What a trip to see Michele put her photos from the first shoot to work like creative ways, and besides making props in between, he’s also been doing some serious fine-tuning on the business side of exploring his offerings and clarifying his USPs. He has a fun project in the works, The Wonder Habit, and I can’t wait to see it debut.
For her 1.5 day shoot, we focused on a few specific areas: illustrating her role as a fine artist and writer, flat layout with lots of cropping options and negative space, and outdoor portraits of Michele’s paintings where she finds so much of her inspiration. . It will be hard to do the first shoot but… I think we did it! Approximately 80% of the session was photographed at Michele’s house- we hopped in the car for the final leg to head to her favorite spot in town.
Michele, you are a bundle of inspiration, joy and encouragement and it is a privilege to know you and to be your photographer! I am grateful you have trusted me, twice now, to capture your incredible vision, and it is a photographer’s dream to see you love and use your photos so thoroughly. Big hugs to you, friend!
A note to photographers read-
This is one of those shots that works all my lighting muscles – natural light, reflector, scrim, softbox (or two), it works. The sun came out a few times, but then we got hit by one of those sudden thunderstorms you get in Florida, and it got *DARK* after lunch. If it weren’t for my off-camera light + softbox we would be in big trouble. Just a reminder to always, always be prepared, even if the weather forecast looks good!
(Hey, I’m obsessed with this. THIS is why I love having margins on shoot day, to create vignettes like this that will give you flexibility in cropping & later use!)
I saved my favorite for last- Michele, you are gorgeous.
