Sometimes photography just happens. The Significant Other and I are vacationing in Grisons in Switzerland. Relax, relax, especially hiking around the beautiful mountain scenery. Today we are off. In the afternoon we drive close to Flims, the premier Ski Resort in the area. Now, in the summer, it’s basically deserted, apart from mountain bikers, a few tourists, and locals. Shopping for groceries, we entered a newly built and futuristic looking shopping center which was mostly built underground. I took out my iPhone 14 Pro and started taking pictures of modern, glossy architecture, already thinking about monochrome. Then the man appeared on the escalator, with the rest of the scene completely deserted. Like the last person in one of those end of civilization movies. I have street photos and a story.
William Shakespeare said “All the stages of the world, and all men and women, are only players”. My stage today is an empty underground futuristic shopping mall in a small Swiss Ski Resort. Browsing through more shots along the lines of my last men’s theme, I spotted a sweater over the armrest of a designer seating area left under an escalator. And finally a shot of the empty “arena”. After the last person left….
Picture taken with my iPhone 14 Pro. Postprocessing in Lightroom Classic.
