Julie is someone I look up to and follow many years- it takes less than a minute of being in his presence to understand why. She’s the epitome of warmth and kindness – that homey vibe you get from her content online? That translates completely into who he is in real life. When I shared with him that we had been set up with Felix’s biological mother back in 2019, he screamed with joy at his top of his lungs – his reaction is STILL one of my favorite reactions we’ve had!
She’s thoughtful, compassionate, and charming, and when you combine that with her otherworldly talent behind the camera, you can’t help but be amazed.
I first met Julie through the world of photography where she is a beloved icon, and Matt and I were lucky enough to be photographed by her in Paris a few years ago! (Those are still some of my favorite shots of us, Julie!). As she moved from the world of wedding photography and more into editorial work, retreat planning, and writing, she mentioned that she had been thinking about brand photos, and my heart wanted to jump out of my chest!
We originally planned her session to Paris for last spring, but ended up having to reschedule when our family got exciting adoption-related news (you can read about it here). For the first time in my life, I actually like we ended up shooting in the US, not in Paris! The location where we landed is PERFECT. With everything in the room, I love that we can really do it on purpose visual message the side of the photo (instead of a gorgeous Parisienne portrait, I would be very tempted in France).
We focused on creating a combination of lifestyle portraits, sketches, and storytelling “starters” for Julie to use across her social channels, website, and even for the author’s photo in her new book. Become Julie, will be out on 7/7! She’s got so much to use on her IG feed already, and me full of love the effect.
Julie, I can’t express enough how honored it is to be able to shoot for you! What dream come true! From the bottom of my heart, thank you. For being you, for being so flexible, and for giving me total freedom and creative license. I am very grateful!
Also on set for this session for wardrobe + set style is my stylist, Katherine Bignon!
